How did the OFS music series start?
Music at the Old Feed Store began as Steve Buchholz and Van Glynn (both members of the Potluck String Band) sought a Northshore venue where local musicians could have a place to play their music and audiences could have a relaxed environment to enjoy more of the great musicians in our area. We have such a great musical heritage in Louisiana and just felt the need for more opportunities to keep this music alive and share it with others.
While outdoor venues have a charm all their own for largely acoustic music, the uncertainty of weather pointed toward an indoor venue where audiences and musicians alike could enjoy the music. Harvey Marsolan has been a great partner in the music series hosting the concerts in his 1930's era feedstore (Marsolan Feed and Seed, downtown Covington) and helping support the artists.
The concerts are held on specific Saturday afternoons beginning at 12 NOON during the Spring and Fall months (see schedule page)
